Jake's Place

Jake’s Place is a quirky wooden hideaway for 4 adjoining the Brake with stunning views over the Devon valleys to the sea beyond. It is part of the creative Kary homestead, annexed to the house, and sharing the land with Jackson’s Cabin and our workshops.

Approached by its own private path, it is set in an enclosed garden shaped around a 40 year old oak tree. There is plenty of room for kids to play and a raised bank with a bench from which to chill out and take in the view. A large deck adjoins the kitchen and allows for relaxed outside meals when the weather permits.

Internally it has the same intimacy and warmth as Jackson’s Cabin, with quite a bit more space and luxury. The kitchen/dining area is a gorgeous double height room with southern light radiating from a large window looking out onto the garden and sea view. The mosaics in the kitchen area fill the room with a splash of fresh colour. Light during the day, it is cosy and intimate at night, with the warmth of the wood burner, and snuggly sofa.

There are two bedrooms; one with a double bed is small and cosy with a garden view from the bed, the other is larger and doubles up as a secondary living space. The bunk bed feels more like you are climbing into a tree than a bunk.

The shower room is tiled in original Mexican tiles and has a loo. A separate double bath unusually placed in a window overlooks the garden.
